Mitchel Hines, an Indianan a future-trap music producer who is catching the attention of many admirable eyes. His go-to attitude and vibrant look-on-life perpetuates his talents into the next tier of up and comers. With his amazing music plowing through with no resistance, his forthcoming is imminent. Brace yourself, and please welcome Hynesite to the illuminating storm.
Question 1: Welcome to the storm! We are stoked to have you with us! Can you deep-dive into who is Hynesite? Where did this all begin?
Answer 1: Thanks for having me! I’m excited to be here. My journey into making music began back in 2017 after going to Electric Forest for the second year in a row. That time was when my inspiration for producing kicked in. I realized I wanted to make people feel like this in their moments of emotional need. After all, that’s the reason we go to festivals, right? To break free from society and experience true freedom. So I was like “okay, I’m really going to take this seriously,” and started learning as much as I could.
My first moniker was young kobe, but once I was able to produce full-length songs, I went by SoCalv. It was actually only a year ago that I adopted Hynesite. I’ve always been big on motivational content and my last name is Hines. My friend Will was like, “Hindsight would be cool”. So I just changed it up a bit to Hynesite.
That last change definitely felt like more of a re-brand than the others. It’s a reflection of who I truly am. And over time, it’s turned into more of a movement than just an artist. I want to inspire others. I want people to come away from their interactions with me and ask themselves how they can find that “next level” in their life. And I want my music to have that same impact
Question 2: Who have been your biggest inspirations thus far in your career?
Answer 2: I draw in inspiration from both those in my everyday life and the music industry. In my personal life – God, first and always. I know that can be a taboo subject in the EDM community, but I truly believe God plays a major role in my daily inspiration. Second is my amazing wife. Her name is Maddy 🙂
For music, Flume and Inzo have been my biggest inspirations. Their music challenges me daily to really find my sound.
Question 3: What sort of advice would you give to someone who wants to be in your shoes?
Answer 3: I think most of the people wanting to be in my shoes are drawn to the idea of that “always positive, never give up” attitude. When in reality, I just had a horrible anxiety attack while I was at work a few days ago and needed to take a couple days off.
I say this because we often get so lost in comparing ourselves to others, especially with social media – which usually is not an accurate portrayal of how someone’s life is on the daily. We’re all on our own path. IMO, whatever it is you’re wanting to do – whether that’s producing EDM or practicing positivity, it starts with you and the information you feed your brain. Comparing yourself to others isn’t really healthy or helpful to that process.
Question 4: Eating and or drinking before a set? Yay or nay?
Answer 4: Eat for sure! Nobody likes to be hangry lol.
Drinking, negative. I’ve struggled with sobriety in the past, but everyday I realize more that you’re happier when sober and have bigger overall potential. So I want to be someone in the scene who encourages sobriety.
Question 5: What is the ideal 2025 looking like for you? Walk us through your utopia year in five years.
Answer 5: This is on my mind a lot. I used to think headlining Electric Forest, having mega success and fame is what I wanted. Although lately I’ve been exploring the idea of freedom. At this very moment, I think a perfect 2025 would look like having the choice to do those things. I want to have a network large enough to produce records outside of just EDM (like rap or pop) that still bring in income. Having the ability to really experiment without having to worry about being show-driven. Especially with the ‘rona. Who even knows at this point what the future of show biz is really going to be like, right? Being able to freely choose how I bring in steady income – whether that’s on the road or at home where I can spend more time with my wife – that’s the kind of future I want for myself.
Question 6: Who is in your collaborations scope? Anything you can sneak or leak?
Answer 6: I can’t leak any tracks or snippets just yet, but I can leak some information! I’m currently working on collabs with DiscoGodFathers, Gently Gently, and NightHawk. There’s also rumors that I’ll be collabing with Moodswvngs and Beatcoin$ in the near future. But like I said, just rumors.
Question 7: Being a resident to Indiana, must be a unique. Although one-of-a-kind, in regards to music, what advantages have you seen from the Hoosier State?
Answer 7: Zero lol. I don’t like it too much here, other than it’s where I met my wife.
Actually, there are a few benefits. People here are very genuine. My best friend and I also make music together and I wouldn’t have him if it wasn’t for Indiana. I can’t really speak on it yet, but we do have a secret project on the way. We also have this place called the Mousetrap and it’s where a lot of acts get started. We’ve even had 12th Planet play there before. I’m well-connected with the people that are regulars there, as well as the staff so I feel like it’d be a great place for me to start once things are back to normal.
There’s also my manager. She might get mad at me for saying this but I’ve been dying to leak it for too long now! Her name is Mady and her dad is the COO of the Indianapolis Colts. She’s new to the music industry business side but she’s amazing at building connections and figuring this out with me. Her and I worked together at one of our first jobs. We have a solid plan and friendship, so I’m excited we’re in this together!
Question 8: Just recently you dropped your Hazel Memories track. What sort of creative process did you call upon for this project?
Answer 8: I want to make it clear that I hold no resentment towards my family for any of this, but Hazel Memories actually stems from one of my worst memories.
When I was a kid, I had a dog named Hazel. She was one of the first pets that was really my pet, if that makes sense? She was always waiting for me to get home and slept in my bed every night. My family moved to a new house and she was always digging holes in the backyard. Between school and my parents work schedule, she didn’t get the attention she deserved, so my dad gave her away to a nice family. Even though it was for the best, that really hurt to go through as a child.
That overall sadness of letting that experience go combined with the newfound excitement of being an adult with my own life and own pets now is highly motivating. I want to have a really good relationship with my parents, so doing the work to let go of feelings that no longer serve me has been a priority of mine this past year. Not just with family, but really anything in my life that is lingering in my subconscious.
I created Hazel Memories as a way to give me closure with those old memories so I could truly be grateful for what’s now in front of me.
Question 9: What can we expect next in the realm of Hynesite?
Answer 9: A POV YouTube series where I motivate people to try out and learn new things, like yoga or whatever. I’ll have cameras set up in my studio, plus a wearable camera (like glasses). I think these ideas will enable me to show people how my mind works a bit. I’ll also cover topics like Motivational Monday or Trapped Out Tuesday, where I make a trap beat live! It’ll be a fun way to put out new content.
That aside, I’m also in the process of scoping out some labels for my next release, Scars.
Question 10: Who do you see killing and slaying it lately? Give them a shout-out!
Answer 10: For sure Seda, Benzo$, Omas, Auselot, Trentcast, DiscoGodFathers, moodsvings, Octobit. And soon to be killing it, Beatcoin$. Their music is sick!
I also can’t wait to see Redthunder drop some new music, as well as Gently Gently. I think with some steady releases we’ll begin to see their brands explode. You guys are killing it with Monsoon Season, as well!
